Pre-doctoral position in Computational RNA biology : Barcelona, Spain

A pre-doctoral position is available at the laboratory of Regulatory Genomics led by Dr. Eduardo Eyras, at the Pompeu Fabra University, PRBB, Barcelona. We are looking for a highly motivated student with a great enthusiasm for doing research in the exciting field of bioinformatics.
The successful candidate should have a degree in biology, computer science, physics or mathematics and a master degree in a scientific discipline. Basic knowledge of statistics and programming skills will be essential.
Research description :
We are interested in the analysis of high-throughput sequencing data to study RNA post-transcriptional regulation in the context of splicing and cancer. In particular, we aim to characterize the sequence and structural properties of these interactions establish the network of interactions using Machine Learning techniques.

The student will work in collaboration with experimental groups and will contribute to two collaborative projects in RNA biology: the European ITN (Integrative Training Network) Project RPNet “RNP structure, function and mechanism of action”, and the Spanish Network Project RNAREG “An integrated approach to post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression and its role in human disease”.
The context Eyras’ group is part of the Department of Experimental and Health Sciences of the Pompeu Fabra University. The group is located in the PRBB (Biomedical Research Park of Barcelona), which hosts more than 100 researchers working in computational biology and a total of 1000 researchers working in biology and medical research.
What we provide : The PRBB also provides an excellent array of seminars in experimental and computational biology and of complementary skills courses, and a vibrant and stimulating scientific environment.
How to apply : Interested applicants should submit a motivation letter describing any previous work and research experience, a CV and contact information for at least two referees to Eduardo Eyras (eduardo.eyras@upf.edu)
