PhD positions in Computational Systems Biology

Description:
PhD positions are available in Computational Systems Biology Group in the Department of Biological Sciences and the Center for Computation & Technology at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. The major focus of our group is the design and development of novel algorithms for the modeling and analysis of biological networks. We are interested in applying various tools from different research areas such as Structural Bioinformatics, Functional Genomics, Cheminformatics and Pharmacogenomics to study the evolution and organization of pathways into biological networks with the primary application in modern drug discovery and design.

Prospective candidates should have finished their undergraduate studies and have some background in computational biology, bioinformatics, computer science or a related discipline. Basic knowledge of Linux and experience with scripting (Perl, Python, etc.) and coding (C/C++, Java, etc.) would be a nice asset.

These positions require acceptance in the graduate program in the Department of Biological Sciences at Louisiana State University; visit http://www.biology.lsu.edu/grad/index.html for details.

Qualified applicants should send a letter of motivation, a resume and contact details of two referees by email to Dr. Michal Brylinski at michal@brylinski.org (as a single PDF file please). For more information visit:http://www.biology.lsu.edu/faculty_listings/fac_pages/mbrylinski/mbrylinski.html
